Thick Descriptions began in 2008 offering diversity training and ethnography services. With support from the University of North Carolina/Dr. Karla Slocum, we began our investment in Boley, Clearview and Langston (historical Oklahoma black towns). Each town has a long and unfortunate history of inhumane treatment but each is grounded in traditions and values important to the future of Oklahoma, the United States and our world. After several years of observing and learning from these communities, Thick Descriptions realized these communities embrace specific beliefs that support "the message/humanity thinking". We chose to also embrace and execute this message.
In 2010 Thick Descriptions incorporated science empowerment specifically STEAM Learning Journeys, Health Literacy and Cultural Intelligence Workshops. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Anthropology and Math), Health Advocacy and Diversity Training engages minds and empowers individuals with knowledge and information, helping to shift Oklahoma into a sustainable state. Thick Descriptions is the hands-and-feet of humanity thinking.
Thick Descriptions is grateful for our journey and we welcome the opportunity to share our knowledge with you!
